Use ChatGPT for Translation

MakeAre you looking to use ChatGPT for translation?

Here's how I do it.

⚠ HEADS UP: There is an updated NEW release of the voice feature that will be a bit faster, but it has been delayed a bit. Don't worry - you can experiment with the current version for now; it works just fine.

💡 Download the ChatGPT app

SIDE NOTE: Triple-check that you are downloading the correct app—there are a ton of look-alikes. The one you need is the official app by OpenAI, which has a black—and—white logo.

🎧 Tap the little headphone feature next to the message bar. You can have a voice conversation and ask ChatGPT to translate what you're saying into another language verbally. Talk to it like you would talk to a real person - use natural language.

🖼 Get a translation of a written document by clicking the little picture icon, taking a picture of a document written in another language, and asking ChatGPT to translate it into your preferred language.

🤳 Translate something you have written by just telling ChatGPT you're going to share some information in English (or any other language) and ask it to translate it into any other language for you, then copy and paste or upload the original information (ensuring it's nothing confidential or proprietary). Be specific in your prompt!

Always double-check the output - especially if it's something that absolutely has to be accurate - LLMs are not foolproof!

Here are a couple of demos of the version of the voice feature ChatGPT is rolling out soon:
